A man was yesterday remanded to prison after being charged with attempting to break and enter the home of another man
Mark Wilson pleaded not guilty to the charge when he was arraigned at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Judy Latchman, who refused him bail after the prosecutor warned that he may attempt to commit the offence again.
It was alleged that Wilson, 20, of Lot 1230 Canje Pheasant, South Ruimveldt, between September 2 and September 3, attempted to break and enter the home of Wayne Duff.
Attorney Paul Fung-A-Fat claimed that Wilson, a mason, was on his way home from work when he was arrested by police officers, who said that they were looking for two boys in connection with the attempted break and enter. He said that the police have no evidence against Wilson in the matter. As a result, he asked for reasonable bail to bed granted.
But Prosecutor Vishnu Hunt objected to bail. He said that the prosecution’s facts are different. He added that Wilson knows where Duff lives and it is very likely that if granted bail, he will attempt to break and enter Duff’s home again.
As a result, bail was refused and Wilson was remanded to prison until September 17, when the case will be called at Court 6 for statements.
