A 29-year-old La Grange, West Bank Demerara resident yesterday died on the spot after the vehicle he was travelling in slammed into a utility pole at Crane Public Road, West Bank Demerara.
Asif Hussain, of Independence Street, La Grange was reportedly returning home at around 0200hrs after a night out with friends. At his home relatives and friends had gathered to offer their sympathy to his family. His father said that he did not know anything about the accident other than his son was in his Alteeza car.
Twenty-year-old Masud Khan, a bank teller who witnesses say was the driver of the vehicle, is currently in a critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
According to reports, the two were returning home when Khan lost control of the vehicle and it crashed into a utility pole at a dangerous turn on the Crane Public Road.
