(Trinidad Express) Police are investigating the death of a 44-year-old woman, who was found dead at her home yesterday.
Etheleen White, a mother of three, was found in a pool of blood in the kitchen at her St James Street, Marabella home.
She was discovered by her husband, 54-year-old Garnet White, around 4pm. White, a mechanic, said he walked into the house and called out to his wife. She never replied. He went to the kitchen and saw the woman on the floor.
Her face was covered in blood and a gaping wound at the back of her head, he said. White said a bloodied hammer was found near her body.
“She was preparing for my father’s 40-day prayers tomorrow. We had to go Gasparillo and she was organising everything. I don’t think it was a robbery because nothing was taken from the house,” he said.
Neighbours said White was seen picking seasoning in her front yard around 12.30pm.
“She pick the bandanya and then walk inside the house. After we hear her bawl out real loud. We didn’t think anything of it because we living on the line and people always making noise here. It was only when her husband came home from work we realise something happen,” a neighbour said.
Garnet White said he was distraught by his wife’s death and called for the authorities to implement stringent measures to tackle crime.
“They not hanging people. They have to get serious and start hanging people to deal with this level of crime,” he said. Homicide detectives are investigating.
