At about 0240h. today, police say that, an eleven-year-old boy was attempting to cross the road at Tuschen, EBE, when he was struck down by a motor car, the driver of which failed to stop at the scene.
According to a statement from the police, public spirited persons pursued the vehicle which led to the driver being subsequently detained by the police at Stewartville, WCD.
He was found to be a member of the Police Force and was over the legal limit in terms of consumption of alcohol.
The victim has been admitted to the WDRH as the investigations continue, police said.
