The cream of the nation’s daredevil bikers and speed demon drivers will push their start buttons today as their high velocity machines line up for the second National Race-of-Champions at the South Dakota Circuit.
Motor racing fans will see some of the best machines in the Caribbean, but the drivers and riders are not about fun and games. Reality forces perspective and despite their innocuous exterior, the built for speed machines and the racers will invade the circuit with one game plan; to win as fast as possible.
The circuit will be transformed into a flammable speedway by the ‘Big 3’ Mark Vieira and his Mazda RX 8, Andrew King’s RX 7 and Kevin Jeffrey’s Mitsubishi Evolution VIII.
The Group 4 ace drivers had an intense battle in their last meet at the circuit as Vieira, King and Jeffrey each secured a victory in the three races.
King won the first race, Vieira stormed to victory in the second event and Jeffrey took the top honours in the last race.
Nonetheless, the Group 4 rivalry is steaming at an all time high with each of their speed machines running at an optimum level.
Still, who will be waving the chequered flag today remains to be seen.
Meanwhile, the Super Bikers who are always ultra competitive are also eager to start their engines and let loose their throttles.
New sensations, Nickel Seeraram and Mark Vieira’s son, Matthew are expected to go wheel to wheel with the more seasoned Bikers when the flag drops today.
But wait there is more; the chequered flag chasing speedsters will put pedal to metal in 19 more adrenaline rushing events in categories such as the Go-Carts, 125cc Motorcycles, Group 3, Group 2A, 2B, and Group 1 are also carded.
The first event is set to roll off at 09:00hrs with the lineup of competitors set for 08:30hrs.
