The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Premier League Georgetown Zone Playoffs continue today with two programmed fixtures at the Tucville Community Centre ground.
In the feature contest of the evening at 20:00hrs, home side Fruta Conquerors will battle arch rivals Pele FC in a keenly anticipated showdown.
Reeling from their opening loss to BK Western Tigers by 2-0 margin, the Tucville unit will require an improved showing from the likes of Jermaine Junior, Eon Alleyne, Dwayne Lindie and Delon Williams if their first victory is to be achieved.
Coach of the Tucville side Sampson Gilbert during a pre match comment stated:”Definitely looking forward to qualifying for the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Premier League. It’s imperative that we win this game after dropping our opening match.
“Currently we are working on our finishing which we have identified as a sore point in terms of our tactical awareness” said Gilbert.
In a similar position to their opponents following their walkover loss to Mocha side Riddim Squad, Pele will attempt to continue their recent success against Conquerors led by the quartet of Shemroy Arthur, Okeene Fraser, Keoma Gravesande and Dirk Archer.
Barry Myers, coach of the Pele unit in an invited comment said:”We haven’t been training as we should due to the constant interruptions but we will come out and look for a victory. We hope to get a good game and secure a much needed win.
“We expect to be in the top three at the end of the tournament. We are Pele, we have to represent not only the club but the individual,” added Myers.
The opening encounter at 18:00hrs will see Campbellville heavyweights Camptown FC locking horns with East Ruimveldt giants BK Western Tigers.
