The annual Linden Amateur Basketball Association (LABA) sponsored Trophy Stall Open League Basketball Championship will bounce off on Friday with a double header at the Mackenzie Sports Club Hard Court.
Joseph Chapman, Secretary of LABA said the 2013 edition of the championship attracted eight clubs. Chapman indicated that among the competitors are top ranked Kashif and Shanghai Kings, Amelia’s Ward Jets, Half Mile Bulls, Retrieve Raiders and Victory Valley Royals, to list a few.
Chapman said that the annual tournament is usually held earlier in the year but circumstances beyond their control caused the tournament to be shifted to September.
Despite the re-schedule, Chapman said interest is high for the championship and disclosed that Ramesh Sunich has committed to providing the relevant trophies for the tournament as he had done last year.
A presentation will be held tomorrow at the Trophy Stall, Bourda Market location at 10:00am by the proprietor to present the LABA with the prizes.
