Police Commissioner (acting) Leroy Brumell today said “don’t let us press the panic button yet” in response to the recent upsurge in serious crime.
He said that the situation is cause for concern but at the same time the public must allow the police to do its work.
He said that they are making progress in a few of the cases.
Minister of Home Affairs Clement Rohee said that the ministry’s responsibility is to ensure the force is adequately provided with resources and also that they follow their policing mode.
The two made those comments at a press conference help to update the media on a recent visit to Suriname to discuss matters relating to the security sector and intelligence cooperation between the two countries.
