A Surinamese man, Omar Williams today appeared in court charged with the murder of former disc jockey Sheldon Cheddie.
He appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
Williams gave his address as Apanestraat K, 7 Light, Paramaribo, Suriname, and was not required to plead to the capital offence.
He will return to court on October 18.
Police had said in a press release that at about 8:30pm on Monday, Cheddie was at the “Turning Point,” Tucville, when a man approached and discharged several rounds at him, hitting him about his body. Cheddie, a former DJ and trader, was subsequently pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Hospital.
