BK Western Tigers edged Camptown FC 1-0 when action in the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Premier League Georgetown Zone Playoffs continued on Wednesday at the Tucville Community Centre Ground.
Heading towards a tame draw following a listless performance by both sides, Stellon David would produce a
moment of individual brilliance in the 72nd minute to earn all three points for the West Ruimveldt giants.
Receiving a Randolph Wagner pass just outside the left side of the 18 yard area, David’s would unleash a powerful left-footed effort that struck the cross bar and settled into the back of the net. Desperate to earn a share of the spoils, the Campbellville side would be denied the equaliser five minutes from regulation time by the woodwork after a Devon Forde right-footed strike came rattling off the cross bar following a poorly defended corner kick.
Calvin ‘Flu man’ Allen, coach of the victorious side during a post-match comment said “I think we didn’t do too badly. We are finding ways to win even though we haven’t been playing well which is important”.
“Oswald had a wonderful night between the sticks for Camptown and kept them in the game. We had a lot of opportunities that we didn’t make use of and we have to find a solution to that”.
Action continues today at the same venue with Riddim Squad opposing Santos in the opening game at 18:30hrs whilst Pele tackles Western Tigers in the feature contest at 20:30hrs.
