Four of the five men held for questioning about the murder of elderly Corentyne rice miller Lallapersaud Juggerdeo have been released by police on station bail.
In addition to the three men who were held on Wednesday, two other men were taken into police custody on Thursday evening.
Last evening, Commander of ‘B’ Division Brian Joseph told Stabroek News that four of five men
were released on station bail. He noted that investigators have additional questions for the other man and as a result he will be staying custody.
Commander Joseph stated that investigators are trying to get to the bottom of the case, which is among a recent spate of high profile attacks. On Wednesday, he had said that results for the ballistics test should be out by the new week.
Juggerdeo, 74, of Lot 79 No. 0 Village, Corentyne, Berbice, was fatally shot outside his home on Tuesday evening while chasing off armed intruders. One of the shots fired by the four fleeing men hit Juggerdeo to the left side of his chest.
Stabroek News has been told that Juggerdeo will be laid to rest on Sunday at the Number 55 village cemetery.
