Tonight’s mega fight between unbeaten Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather and Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez is expected to surpass viewership of any other televised bout in boxing history.
Millions around the world are expected to see the Pay-Per-View unification fight which will determine if Mayweather is at the crossroads, or if he really deserves a place in the top 10 all time pound-for-pound list. The Upscale Restaurant teamed up with popular boxing Promoter Carwyn Holland to present the fight live on big screens for local boxing fans that may not get a chance to see the historic fight on local television.
In an invited comment, Holland said the team is trying to bring Sports Entertainment in line with that of North America whereby persons can enjoy televised world class events in an atmosphere mirroring the actual venue.
Meanwhile, the fighters weighed in yesterday with Mayweather tipping the scales at 150.5 lbs and Alvarez a chiseled looking 152.
“Its fight time, what else can I say? If the game plan is to keep pressure, I can handle it. If the game plan is to out-box me, nobody can out box me,” Mayweather told the media at the final press conference. “You have to be able to out match me mentally, and I’m the strongest mental fighter in the sport of boxing… I’ve been here before so I know what it takes. He’s 42-0, but he hasn’t faced 42 Floyd Mayweathers because he’d be 0-42. I’m at the pinnacle. I’m the face of boxing and I’m dedicated to my craft.”
The 36-year-old, Mayweather is almost at the end of a Hall of Fame career while Alvarez seems to be just starting.
“I’ve studied him. I know his style and I know what he’s going to do,” Alvarez told the media in his final appearance before the fight.
“I’m confident I will win because I know everything about him. I’ve prepared for everything… It’s important from the opening bell to fight smart and not fall into his game plan. I need to stick to my plan, not fall into his.”
The youthful Mexican star is hoping to achieve something all others failed to achieve. Fans worldwide are divided over who will raise their hands at the end of the fight.
An additional attraction to tonight’s event at Upscale will be international boxing commentator Holland moderating an expected fiery debate between local boxing pundits. Bank DIH is sponsoring the event.
