The National Sports Commission (NSC) as well as stakeholders are in the planning phase for the seventh annual ‘Ride For Life’ five-stage cycle Road race which will either pedal off next month or in November.
According to Director of Sport, Neil Kumar yesterday “we had some talks about the five-stage and from my point of view it is definitely on but we don’t know if its next month or in November, we are still in the planning phase.”
Arguably the most prestigious race on the cycling calendar, the five-stage Tour of Guyana features the nation’s top riders as well as cyclists from the Caribbean, the UK and the USA competing for lucrative cash prizes.
Despite its significance, organizers have been relatively mum on the four-day, 266-mile event which was staged in early October last year.
