A St Ignatius Secondary School student is reportedly clinging to his life in a Brazil hospital after he was stabbed by a schoolmate on Monday afternoon.
According to an eyewitness, he observed the two children on bicycles along with others riding and they were involved in a heated argument.

He said that suddenly one whipped a knife out of his pocket and stabbed the other under his left arm pit and the child fell to the ground bleeding profusely. The children, both of whom are third form students, were reportedly on their way home.
Both the injured child and his attacker were picked up by members of the Guyana Defence Force and the injured child was rushed to Brazil where he is said to be hospitalized in a critical condition.
His attacker, said to be related to a well-known businessman in Lethem, is in police custody.
The school’s Headmistress Yvette-Alexander told Stabroek News she had received a call on Monday afternoon informing her that something had happened and that children from her school were involved.
She said she was unaware of the specifics of the incident, but she did ascertain that it occurred around 15:30 hrs.
The stabbing took place in the vicinity of the airstrip, which is about a mile from the school.
