The Tucville Community Centre ground will come alive when the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Premier League Georgetown Zone Playoffs continue today with two fixtures.
In the feature contest at 20:00hrs, Campbellville-based giants Camptown FC will engage the always formidable Riddim Squad FC in a pivotal matchup.
Defeated in the final seconds of their last showing by arch rivals Fruta Conquerors by a 1-0 margin, Camptown will look to rebound as they rely on the trio of Devon Forde, Jahal Greaves and Oswald Cornette to pilot them back on course.
Overwhelmed by BK Western Tigers 3-1 in their last fixture, Riddim Squad will depend on their band of brothers- the Hopes, the Stewarts and the Ramsays to power them a vital three points when opening whistle sounds.
Lloyd Millington, coach of Riddim Squad during an invited comment stated “We are going into this game better prepared and there is no reason we shouldn’t achieve a victory.
We don’t want to leave it to the last moment to secure our place”.
The opening game of the evening at 18:00hrs will see home side Fruta Conquerors opposing Santos FC.
Confident following their hard fought victory over Camptown, the Tucville unit will look to build on their recent success when they face a Santos side that are yet to register a win in the tourney.
Fruta Conquerors coach Sampson Gilbert during an invited comment said “The tournament is poised in such a way where a win is necessary at this stage. Both teams will be going out for a win. Currently our offence has not been as efficient as we would like and we are working on it.
“We are taking it one game at a time and looking forward towards a win tomorrow,” said Gilbert. Dwain Babb, coach of Santos FC in a pre match comment said: “Not much change in the strategy. We are going into the game with the same system. “Preparation remains the same, nevertheless we will be looking to upset them and we expect a win.”
