Granger meets military veterans

Leader of the Opposition, Brigadier David Granger met military veterans last weekend to discuss matters affecting former members of the Guyana Defence Force, a release from APNU said. Veterans voiced concern about the challenges which some of the former soldiers in Guyana faced. They were concerned particularly with those who needed special attention and medication, the release said.

Granger shared their concern and reiterated that he had drafted a 10-point plan to improve the lives of ex-soldiers over 14 years ago. The plan, which had been presented to the government, included the establishment of a National Veterans Commission and a Veterans Administration Department in the Guyana Defence Force, the release said.

Granger, accompanied by Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Harmon, thanked the President of the XGDF Association Cheryl Tappin for her invitation to meet his former colleagues.
