Team Canada thumped Team Guyana by an 8-0 margin when action in the Pan American Hockey Federation (PAHF) Cup commenced in Mendoza, Argentina on Saturday.
Hannah Haughn opened the scoring for the tournament’s fourth seed through a fifth minute field goal. Thea Culley doubled the advantage 10 minutes later through a field goal conversion.
Abigail Raye and Jessica Barnett added two more goals in the 20th and 32nd minutes respectively as the North American side went into the half leading 4-0.
In the second stanza, Caashia Karringten penned her name on the scorer’s sheet with a 43rd minute field goal while Culley completed her double in the 53rd minute from a penalty corner strike.
Further goals by Brienne Stairs and Stephanie Norlander in the 55th and 67th minutes respectively completed the lopsided score line.
