ZURICH, Switzerland,  CMC- Jamaican footballer Jermaine Hue was yesterday suspended for nine months after testing positive for a banned substance at a World Cup qualifying match. Also, team doctor Carlton Fraser was banned from football for four years for administering the drug, dexamethasone, FIFA said yesterday.

Hue’s suspension expires on May 6, 2014, and Fraser’s ban runs until Aug. 7, 2017. They can appeal.

“This suspension covers all types of matches, including domestic, international, friendly and official fixtures,” FIFA said.

Hue tested positive after Jamaica’s 2-0 loss against Honduras in Tegucigalpa on June 11.

He is the second player suspended by FIFA for doping in the current World Cup qualifying program. In March, FIFA banned Peru midfielder Joel Sanchez for two years. He tested positive for the stimulant methylhexaneamine after a 1-1 draw at Bolivia in La Paz last October.
