Trinidad and Tobago edged Guyana by a 3-2 score line in the battle of the bottom sides when the Pan American Hockey Federation (PAHF) Cup continued in Mendoza, Argentina yesterday.
Trisha Woodroffe opened the scoring for the Guyanese through a penalty corner conversion in the 35th minute. Guyana would double their lead in the 43rd minute as Aaliyah Gordon found the back of the net with a field goal strike.
The twin-island republic would cut the deficit to one as Alanna Lewis etched her name on the scorer’s sheet with a penalty corner strike in the 58th minute.
Trinidad and Tobago leveled proceedings five minutes later as Dana-Lee De Gannes found the back of the net through a penalty corner.
The comeback victory would be complete in the 65th minute as Blair Wynne netted through a penalty strike to relegate the Guyanese to the eight position in the tournament.
