Fruta Conquerors and Pele Football Club played to a 1-1 draw when the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) Players Cup recommenced at the Tucville Community Centre ground on Friday. Dwayne Lawrence opened the scoring for Fruta Conquerors in the 39th minute while Royston Dublin equalised for Pele in the 87th minute.
Lawrence netted the opening goal after he collected a pin point Gerald Grittens left footed cross from the left flank and finished into the open net.
It what would prove to be a game of two halves, Pele almost found the equaliser in the 72nd minute through a powerful Shemroy Arthur right footed free kick, only to be denied brilliantly by Alex Murray between the uprights as he tipped the resulting effort just over the crossbar.
Pele, however, would not be denied as lanky forward Dublin intercepted a poor back pass intended for Murray from defender Delon Williams before easily finishing after shrugging off a challenge from the goalkeeper to earn his side a share of the spoils
Sampson Gilbert, coach of the Fruta Conquerors side during an invited comment said:”Generally we dominated the game and overall we created more chances but our lack of discipline and finishing allowed Pele to score.
