AHMEDABAD, India, CMC-Trinidad & Tobago defeated Titans by six runs on the Duckworth Lewis method to remain in the hunt for the second semi-finals berth in Group B of the Champions League T20 here today.
The Red Force’s victory was built on a solid 109-run stand for the second wicket between Evin Lewis and Darren Bravo, which came in 64 balls.
They hit 188 for 6 despite a less than impressive finish to the innings and succeeded in containing the Titans with help from Sunil Narine and Lendl Simmons.
Narine and Simmons took 4 wickets for 41 in seven overs between them as Titans reached 153 for six by the time the rains came.
Simmons picked up two for 18 and Narine two for 23.
Just as the match was heading towards a thrilling finale, with the Titans needing to score 36 from the final three overs, it started pouring heavily, forcing the game to be abandoned.
T and T’s win means three teams, including Titans, are still capable of advancing to the semi-finals alongside Chennai Super Kings.
Lewis struck 70 off 35 deliveries while Bravo, started cautiously but became aggressive towards the death overs to finish with 63 off 44, having hit four sixes and five fours.
Navin Stewart contributed 23 for the Caribbean side.
The Red Force however was unable to capitalize on the foundation Bravo and Lewis had provided them as some quick dismissals followed Bravo’s departure.
