Seven persons, including two Venezuelans were yesterday fined $30,000 each for illegal entry.
The charges read by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry stated that on September 26 at Charity, Essequibo, George Samaroo, 42, of Lot 18 Peters Hall Public Road, East Bank Demerara; Junior Roy of Lot 60 Anna Catherina, West Coast Demerara; Andrew Sukhai, 31, of Hope, East Coast Demerara; Valerie Gouveia, 68, of Lot 1916 Block X, Diamond, East Bank Demerara; Maharine Grovesnor, 49, of Number Two Village, West Coast Berbice, and Venezuelans, Grant Pieter Carrieno Oselmo, 22, and Raju Solomon Singh, 18, entered Guyana without presenting themselves to an immigration officer.
All seven defendants pleaded guilty and were subsequently fined $30,000.
