The Ministry of Home Affairs in its monthly report on the operations of its Stray Catching Units says that the Units impounded a total of 201 animals during the month of September, 2013.
A release from the ministry said that operations were conducted on the East Bank of Demerara and the Corentyne areas.
Of the four classes of animals impounded, the release said that56 goats headed the list, followed by 54 cows, 48 sheep and 43 horses.
The Ministry again appealed to cattle owners to ensure the safety of their animals from vehicular accidents.
Cattle owners are also reminded to ensure that a calf six months old must be branded.
