SCARBOROUGH, Tobago, CMC– American cyclist Clixto Bello of Team Cocos has taken the lead in the 2013 Tobago International Cycling Classic (TICC) after winning Stage One of the event on Tuesday.
Bello finished the 120-kilometre Circuit Race Division One in two hours, 32 minutes, 43.45 seconds.
He was featured in a neck and neck sprint to the finish with Germany’s Jonas Schmeiser of Team NSP who finished close behind in 2:32:43.64.
The IG Sigma Sports duo of Ryan Mullen of Ireland and Peter Williams of Great Britain rounded off the top four in Division One, finishing third and fourth, respectively, in the opening event which featured over 120 cyclists from across the world.
Joshua Alexander of Team Foundation was the first Trinidad and Tobago cyclist to cross the finish line.
He clocked 2:39:26.46. to finish 20th in the race. Division Two riders were required to do half the distance, with T&T’s Ronald Moses of team SlipStream crossing the line first in 1:26:20.20.
Southampton cyclist Jerron Loubon finished second, 31.96 seconds behind Moses, while George Fechteipeter of Germany’s Matrix Racing Team placed third.
