Cabinet this week cleared a contract for $464.2M for the national school feeding programme for the year 2013-14.
A release from the Government Information Agency said this was revealed yesterday by Head of the Presidential Secretariat Dr Roger Luncheon at his press briefing.
The contract is for the supply and delivery of fruits and nutritionally fortified biscuits.
A contract worth euros 265, 825 was also cleared for the supply, delivery, installation and commissioning of laboratory equipment for the veterinary diagnostic laboratory.
Also given the green light was a contract under the Ministry of Housing and Water worth US$467,000 for the procurement of well-drilling materials. Another contract given a no-objection was for procurement of service to update Guyana Water Inc’s existing billing system to the value of US$206,000.
Under the Ministry of Local Government, the procurement of two rear-loaded mini compactor waste collecting vehicles to the value of US$157,073 was also cleared.
Construction of a confinement building at the New Opportunity Corps at Onderneeming in Region Two was given the thumbs up at a value of $18.6M. Completion of the Lethem Magistrate’s Court to the value of $19.9m was also given the green light. Two Bobcat skid-steer loaders for the Ministry of Labour at a value of $20.8m were also given the go-ahead.
