With just over a week remaining before he faces David Thomas, light welterweight prospect Kishawn ‘Special K’ Simon is brimming with confidence ahead of his bout at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
“I plan on giving the judges the night off on October 13”, boasted Simon yesterday ahead of his scheduled four-round bout with Thomas.
The 23-year old pugilist (1(1)-1-0)who turned pro last year, avenged his debut loss to journeyman Patrick Boston via a fourth round KO and is planning to do the same when he faces Thomas (1(1)-2(1)-0).
“In my fist I trust, I’m going for the KO no doubt about it I’m looking to continue in the fine form and win impressively”.
Simon who has passes in 11 CXC subjects says his fans can expect a tactical and brutal performance.
Although not yet ready to fight top opposition, Simon is starting to get a bit of exposure on bigger cards and plans on making the best of it; he is even calling out rivals.
“My confidence level is at the top, I’ve been sparring with champions and they are giving the hunger to be like them and do great things, Thomas is just a stepping stone for me, tell guys like Anson Green, Cassius Matthews and Revlon Lake when I’m finished with Thomas I’m coming for them, fight fans come out and see ‘Special K’ in action”.
The Simon/Thomas fight will be on the under card of the 30th Guyana Fight Night event which will be headlined by CABOFE featherweight and light welterweight champion Clive ‘The Punisher’ Atwell.
The undefeated Atwell (11(6)-0-1) will take on Jamaican brawler Glenroy ‘Bumpy’ Beckford in an eight-round lightweight contest.
Two other CABOFE champions’ middleweight, Edmond ‘Wonder Boy’ DeClou and flyweight Dexter ‘De Kid’ Marques will also be in action.
DeClou, will face hard hitting Berbician, Derrick Richmond in an eight-round affair while Marques, the flyweight champion will lace it up against new sensation Richard Williamson in their super bantamweight fisticuff also scheduled for eight rounds.
The ‘Wonder Boy’ (14(3)-1(1)-1) as well as ‘De Kid’ (12(5)-2(2)-0) have both been out of the ring in excess of seven months and will look to dust off their ring rust with victories.
The names of the pugilists who will make up the amateur segment of the card will be announced subsequently.
Tickets will cost $1000 and bell time is 20:00hrs.
