A 50-year-old mother of two and teacher at the Grove Primary School collapsed and died shortly after participating in a march in observance of World Teachers’ Day yesterday.
Carlotta Blair of Lot 13 Walker Terrace, West Ruimveldt had reportedly told her colleagues that she was not feeling well, and after this disclosure, started bleeding through her nose and eventually collapsed. The woman was then rushed to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
According to her son Nedrie Wharton, he got the fateful call while he was at work. “I received a call from my aunt around 11.30 to come down to the Diamond Hospital because my mom had collapsed whilst she was taking part in the march and when I got there I was told that she died,” Wharton said.
