Camptown Football Club edged the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) in a seven goal thriller 4-3 when action in the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) Players Cup continued at the Tucville Community ground on Friday.
The opening period would begin perfectly for the Campbellville side as GFC centre half Vurlon Halley accidentally put the ball into his own net in the fifth minute trying to clear a right sided cross.
Peter Parks would double Camptown’s lead as he found the back of the net in the 10th minute. Receiving a Runnel Gordon right side cross, Parks would have his initial header saved by the GFC custodian, only to quickly pounce on the rebound and head home uncontested.
Camptown’s lead would be cut to one in the 27th minute through a Gordon own goal. Ricocheting off the leg of Gordon from a GFC pass, the deflection would wrong foot the Camptown custodian as the ball nestled into the bottom right hand corner of the goal.
Midfielder Jahaal Greaves then restored Camptown’s two goal advantage as his left footed volley which was tipped by the GFC custodian was unable to be stopped from going into the goal by Halley.
The second half saw GFC forward Keon Solomon narrowing Camptown’s lead to one as he found the back of the net in the 65th minute.
Running onto a through pass that was missed by defender Adrian Adonis, Solomon held off his marker to finish with composure to the left side of the goal. Fellow strike partner Anson Lynch levelled proceedings in the most sublime of fashion one minute later.
Utilizing a brilliant first touch to collect a Terrence Lewis lobbed pass from midfield, Lynch unleashed a excellent right footed lobbed effort from just inside the 18-yard area that gave the Camptown custodian no chance as it nestled into the top left hand corner.
With the scores locked at 3-3, Parks would settle the encounter in the 68th minute as he placed his right footed effort under the keeper after receiving left back Malcolm Wilson’s pass from just inside the 18 yard area.
In the earlier fixture, Riddim Squad led by a Amos Ramsay six goal haul in the 45th+1, 58th, 66th, 74th, 79th and 81st minutes thrashed Black Pearl FC 7-0. Completing the score line was Dwayne Orelley who netted in the 48th minute.
