United Centre is celebrating its first anniversary with daily giveaways and a grand prize of two VIP tickets to see Rihanna live in concert in November.
Marketing Manager Michael Alleyne yesterday told the media that Friday marks one year since the store opened at its Regent and Camp streets location and it was celebrating by giving back to its customers.
He said that eight items including one big item such as a refrigerator, stove, or television will be given to lucky customers every day. “They don’t have to do anything but shop in the store,” he said adding that the giveaways will start at 11 am and end at 6 pm. He said customers just have to shop any amount in the store and if their ticket number is pulled they will win one of the prizes.
He said the grand prize is the all-expenses paid trip to Barbados to see Rihanna perform and that drawing will take place on Friday. The winner will enjoy free accommodation at the Barbados Hilton as well as spending money. To enter the Rihanna extravaganza persons just need to spend $3,000 and they will be given coupons for the promotion.
Following this promotion, another would begin in the Home and Beyond section with the grand prize being a living room or bedroom makeover. This $2.5 million promotion, which will run until December will also include giveaways of refrigerators and stoves.
Asked how business has been over the last year, Alleyne said the response has been good. “We are humbled by the attention that we have been getting, by the support that our customers have been giving us,” he said, thanking customers for their support.
He said that there are no plans in the near future for any other additions to the building. The latest was the Gravity lounge, which was recently opened on the roof.
