Albion Community Centre and Rose Hall Town Gizmos and Gadgets won their final Group A preliminary matches last Saturday to claim semi-final spots in the 2013 Universal DVD first division T20 competition in Berbice.
Playing at home, Albion Community Centre
defeated D’Edward by 10 wickets.
D’Edward, winning the toss and batting first were restricted to 117 for 6 from their 20 overs.
Lakeram Sukra stroked a solid 52 which included two fours and four sixes while Heeralall Bridgelall chipped in with 22. Bowling for Albion, former West Indies leg-spinner, Devendra Bishoo took 3 for 17 from four overs and fellow leg-spinner, Avinash Wajib snared 3 for 20 also from four overs.
Albion Community Centre in reply reached 120 without loss in just 15.2 overs.
Former West Indies opening batsman Sewnarine Chattergoon slammed seven fours in 63 not out and received support from former Guyana U19 opening batsman Kandasammy Surujnarine who was not out on 56.
Over at the Blairmont Ground, Rose Hall Town Gizmos and Gadgets defeated Blairmont Community Centre by 43 runs. After losing the toss Rose Hall Town, sent into bat, collapsed to 114 for 8 in their 20 overs. Former Berbice cricketer, Jason Sinclair top scored with 39 while former Guyana wicket-keeper/batsman Delbert Hicks made 18.
National opening batsman Robin Bacchus bowling medium pace grabbed 3 for 29 from four overs and leg-spinner, Kevon Jawahir 2 for 24 also from four overs.
In reply, Blairmont slipped from 55 for 5 to 71 all-out in 17.3 overs.
Karamdat Bissoondial top-scored with 15 as Rose Hall Town left-arm spinner Ravi Narine grabbed 4 for 18 from four overs.
National all-rounder Rajiv Ivan picked up 2 for 9 from 2.3 overs and medium pacer, Renwick Batson, 2 for 18 from four overs.
