Two goals each from brothers Quacy and Alister Wilson saw Paradise Invaders defeating New Amsterdam United 4-2 in the feature matchup when the Starlight Generation Entertainment Berbice Cup knockout football tournament opened on Saturday at the No.5 ground in Berbice.
Quacy found the back of the net in the 36th and 56th minutes while Alister etched his name on the scorer’s sheet in the 66th and 89th minutes. On target for the losers were Adrian Adams and Jamaal Butts in the 67th and 72nd minutes respectively.
In the opening fixture, Rosignol edged Monedderlust ‘A’ 2-1 through goals from Tyson Carmichael and Christopher Clark in the 24th and 58th minutes correspondingly. Jernel Watts netted for Monedderlust ‘A’ in the 48th minute.
The tournament, which is organized by Starlight Entertainment and the Monedderlust FC in collaboration with the Berbice Football Association features eight clubs battling for $400,000 in cash and trophies.
