West Berbice on Saturday scored a comfortable seven-wicket victory over a depleted Albion Community Centre team to ease into the final of the 2013 Universal DVD first-division T20 cricket competition.
Taking advantage of a depleted Albion side which was missing four of their key players in Narsingh Deonarine, Veerasammy Permaul, Gudakesh Motie-Kanhai and Devendra Bishoo, West Berbice won the toss, chose to field, and restricted the opposition to 123 for 7 off their 20 overs. Former Guyana U-19 batsman Kandasammy Surujnarine smashed 41 from 29 balls with four fours and one six while Balchand Baldeo made 22 off 31 balls.
National wicket-keeper/batsman Anthony Bramble fell for five while former Guyana T20 batsman Jonathan Foo scored 28 from 25 balls.
Bowling for West Berbice, Andrew Dutchin took 2 for 22, Keon Joseph 1 for 14, Andrew Johnson 1 for 17, Keith Fraser 1 for 21, Krishnadat Ramoo 1 for 21 and Brandon Bess 1 for 26.
West Berbice in reply cruised to 127 for 3 from 18.1 overs with Berbice batsman Artley Bailey scoring 36 while Raffel Estriado chipped in with 20.
Fraser (27) and Dutchin (17) both unbeaten took West Berbice home with 11 balls to spare. Former National player, Andre Percival and left-arm spinner Avinash Wajib were the two wicket-takers
