The badly decomposed body of 37-year-old Simone Russell of Friendship, East Coast Demerara was discovered yesterday in a canal at Company Road, Buxton.
At the time of the discovery, her body was clad in a multi-coloured top and blue denim shorts. It was pulled from the trench between the Railway Embankment and the Public Road.
Russell’s body was discovered around midday yesterday by residents in the area and several of them said that they suspected foul play. The woman who is of unsound mind and a drug addict was last seen by residents in the area on Friday.
Her sister Shenell Headley said that she last saw her sometime last week. “I saw her last week but I can’t remember the exact date. I was inside and this guy come and tell me that he hear my sister dead and let me come and verify the body so that is how I come out here,” the woman said.
The woman leaves to mourn a daughter, mother and siblings.
