At the Fort Wellington Court yesterday, a woman was ordered to post bail in the sum of $60,000 when she was granted her pre-trial freedom on a felonious wounding charge.
It is alleged that Shondell Kurtzious, 29, of Rosignol, West Bank Berbice feloniously wounded
Abiola Bailey, 31, of No. 5 Village, West Coast Berbice.
Police Prosecutor, Corporal Orin Joseph informed the court that the women had been having ongoing problems dating back two years.
He said too that the defendant had reportedly threatened to harm Bailey and that she carried out the attack on October 12.
According to him, around 10:30 am at the Rosignol market, Kurtzious reportedly whipped out a knife from her bag and chopped the defendant on her right shoulder.
Bailey was rushed to the hospital where she was treated and sent away. She appeared at court sporting a bandaged shoulder.
The defendant was represented by attorney-at-law, Joel Persid Edmond who made a successful application for bail. The prosecution did not object to bail being granted. The case comes up again on November 7.
