Morris Porter, of Laluni Street, Queenstown, was yesterday accidentally shot while “playing around” with a police rank on patrol duty in the city.
Porter, 50, was subsequently admitted as a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was being treated up to yesterday evening.
Police said the shooting occurred at around 1:05, when armed police ranks were on a mobile patrol in Craig Street, Campbellville, Georgetown.
Porter, according to police, had gone up to the police vehicle and engaged in a conversation with the rank, who is his friend.
“…[He] began to “play around” with the rank and pulled at his firearm. In efforts by the rank to secure the firearm, a round was accidentally discharged which struck Morris Porter to his left side,” police said.
