Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) won the boys U16 divisional title defeating Old Fort 2-0 when action in the Star Party Rental’s National Junior Indoor Hockey Tournament concluded at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue yesterday.
Kareem McKenzie netted a double to propel the Bourda based side to the title. In the third place fixture, Saints crushed Hikers 4-1 through a Hilton Chester hat trick. Delmar Ng completed the score line with a solitary strike while Samuel Clarke netted for the losers.
In the earlier semi-final matchups, Old Fort edged Saints 3-2 compliments of a Shaquille Thomas double and a Toyin Lynch strike. On target for the losers were Hilton Chester and Andy Dindial.
GCC mauled Hikers 5-1 to win the second semi-final fixture. Mackenzie led the way with a hat trick while sibling Keon Mackenzie and Rosario Ramsammy completed the score line with solo strikes.
GCC completed the sweep of the U16 division, crushing Hikers 5-0 to claim the title. Aaliyah Gordon led the way with a helmet trick while Shania Riley added to the result with a solo goal.
In the third place matchup, Old Fort Heats edged Old Fort Inkers 1-0 on penalty strokes following a tied 2-2 score at the end of normal time. Carolyn Dey led the winners with a double whilst Owinter Henry netted a brace in a losing effort.
The earlier semi-final game saw Hikers edging Old Fort Heats 2-0 on penalty strokes after normal time ended 2-2. Aaliyah Abel was on target with a double for the winners while Shondell Freeman and B. Kaladeen netted for the losers.
In the second semi-final, GCC led by hat tricks from Shania Riley and Aaliyah Gordon thumped Old Fort Inkers 6-0.
