KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC – Jamaica put St. Kitts and Nevis to the sword by 11 goals to nil, while the Dominican Republic defeated Suriname 3-0 to secure three points each in their encounters in Group “B” of the inaugural Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Women’s Under-20 Finals played at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex on Saturday. In the first game, Dominican Republic and Suriname both battled to a goalless first half with Dominican Republic going forward unsuccessfully several times.
However, Winibian Judit Peralta Perez broke the deadlock in the 67th minute. Diana Elizabeth Santana Tavarez made it 2-0 in the 71st minute and Yaqueiesi Alexandra Nunez Soriano sealed the issue in the in the 84th minute, ending the game 3-0.
Dominican Republic will face St. Kitts/ Nevis on Monday October 21, at 4:00pm at the Anthony Spaulding Complex while Suriname will meet host Jamaica at 6:00pm.
In the second game of the doubleheader, Jamaica started to dominate St Kitts & Nevis from as early as the 10th minute when Jessica Johnson scored the first goal. Two minutes later Khadija Shaw scored the first goal of her double, which she completed in the 44th minute.
Oshay Lawes was next in line with a hat-trick in the 15th, 62nd and 68th minutes. Midfielder Nicole Harris took her piece of the goal-scoring cake when she netted in the 46th and 87th minutes. Captain Kayla Gray scored in the 50th and 67th minutes while Marlo Sweatman made her contribution to the 11-0 hammering of the St. Kitts/Nevis team in the 71st minute.
