Top female cyclist Hazina Bharrat was the best Guyanese performer at the Caribbean Cycling Championships in Curacao last weekend.
According to reports reaching Stabroek Sport Bharrat placed 13th in the female road race while in the male 140KM road race (18 laps) Orville Hinds was Guyana’s top performer placing 43rd and coming in a little more than four minutes behind the winner.
Alanzo Greaves placed 55th and came in some five minutes after the winner while team captain Godfrey Pollydore who suffered a puncture, placed 60th.
Another cyclist Raynauth Jeffrey failed to finish the event pulling up with cramps with one lap to go which was not surprising given that Jeffrey had participated in the 25-mile time trial on Saturday where he placed a creditable 16th.
The Guyana team is expected to return home today.
