PNCR Assistant General Secretary Amna Ally and a team of party officials are calling on the PPP/C administration to improve basic services in the Pomeroon-Supenaam area as the IMC and RDC “do not seem to know what they are doing.”
In a press release, the party said residents complained about mismanagement in the arbitrarily installed Interim Management Committee (IMC) and the Regional Democratic Council (RDC) in Region Two. Some residents showed Ally a garbage dumpsite, evidence of poor drainage in the town and complained about the discriminatory practices of the town council. Vendors also claimed that they were removed from the market site in order to accommodate “a known PPP supporter” who has established a business in an area that had been used for drainage.
In the light of this, the PNCR is urging the PPP/C administration to upgrade the facilities at the market, to ensure that garbage is cleared every day and to provide proper drainage. The group also condemns discriminatory practices in the region.
