Alex Abram Weeks, 18, caught during the violent robbery of a policewoman, was yesterday fined $75,000 after admitting to the crime.
Weeks, of Phase 2, East Ruimveldt Housing Scheme, pleaded guilty to the charge of robbery with violence when he appeared yesterday at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
He admitted that on October 22, he robbed Dorset Blackman of her BlackBerry Curve smartphone, which was valued $45,000.

At that moment, she was standing in front of the St. Stanislaus College when the attacker, Weeks, jumped off his bicycle and shoved her to the ground and snatched her cellphone. In the midst of the attack, two police who were on patrol went to Blackman’s aid and apprehended Weeks on sight.
Magistrate Fabayo Azore, who took into consideration Weeks’ age, fined him $75,000. Failing to pay the fine, Weeks would have to serve a six-month jail term.
