The Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA)/Yolo Entertainment Super Sevens Basketball Challenge will commence today from 14:00hrs at the Burnham Court on Carmichael and Middle Streets with 12 matchups.
Thirty two teams are expected to compete with ballers from as far as Melanie on the East Coast of Demerara forming teams to participate. The tournament is open to everyone and will climax on November 4 at the same venue.
The victorious side of three-day tournament will walk away with the $100,000 first prize.
President of GABA Michael Singh said that he is pleased with the efforts of the Yolo Entertainment group and was happy to see the return of quality basketball to the Burnham Court.
Aside from the tournament, the Yolo Entertainment will be presenting basketball stalwarts Mark Agard and Eon “Watusi” Andrews with awards for their contribution to the sport. They both have immensely contributed to the sport of basketball over the years and have represented Guyana on many occasions.
