Banks DIH Limited, Red Earth Promotions and the Guyana Boxing Association (GBA) launched the Champions of Champions Novices event Saturday in Bartica.
The event, which is billed for November 15 and 16 at the Bartica Community Centre under flood lights, is the first of its kind in Bartica and according to president of the GBA, Steve Ninvalle, the activity is part of decentralizing the fistic amateur sport in Guyana.
“We launched the champions of champions competition which is a collaborative effort of the Red Earth Promotions, Banks and the GBA and we envision two nights of top amateur boxing” said Ninvalle.
“We have tried it (hosting cards) in Linden and in Berbice and we want to take it further afield,” added Ninvalle.
Leonid Tobin, Banks DIH Branch Manager expressed gratitude in sponsoring the two-night card and further mentioned that Banks DIH Limited will continue to partner with associations for the development of disciplines in Guyana.
The event will be sponsored under the Banks Premium beer brand.
Ninvalle also applauded the promoters for partnering with the GBA.
Shawn Wilson, Chairman of Red Earth Promotion stated that he “expects a large turn out and an exciting bouts for the two-night competition”.
The pugilists will be vying for trophies and medals.
