The Georgetown Cricket Club on Saturday defeated the Muslim Youth Organisation by five wickets to win the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA), New Building Society second division limited overs competition.
Playing at the Everest Cricket Club ground, MYO, batting first, scored 170 all out in 39.3 overs of their allotted 40 overs.
Shafiek Ishmael struck four fours and two sixes in scoring 65 while Zamal Khan scored 48 with five fours and one six. Richard Latiff added 24.
Bowling for GCC, Winston Forrester took 4-42 and Bernard Bailey 3-48.
GCC, in their reply, scored 171 for 5 wickets in 29.5 overs.
Forrester scored 54 with two sixes and three fours, Elton Fernandes supported with 40 with two sixes and two fours and Martin Pestano-Belle chipped in with 34 an innings which included six fours.
Bowling for MYO, Parmanand Parsram took 2-25.
Forrester was adjudged Man of the match.
