Dear Editor,
I am heartened to hear from sources close to Takuba Lodge that the UK High Commissioner Laleshwar Singh has decided to demit his seeming ‘job for life’ in 2014 after two plus decades in post. This offers Guyana and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs a golden opportunity to put a pro-active and entrepreneurial ambassador in place to bring the country much needed trade, investment and profile from London.
There are many fine candidates for that post in Guyana and in the Eastern Caribbean.
Here’s to a new dawn in Bayswater.
Yours faithfully,
John ‘Bill Cotton/Reform’ Mair
