Totaram Bishum with a match haul 10 for 103 bowled the Demerara Cricket Club to the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) Hadi’s World Incorporated/City Mall first division two day title after they defeated arch rivals the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) by four points.
In the final round of matches on October 19 and 20 DCC defeated Transport Sports Club (TSC) gaining a whopping 27 points in the process to edge out the Bourda boys.
Played at the DCC ground in Queenstown, TSC batting first were dismissed for 117 with Stephen Alves, 40, the top scorer while E. Samuels supported with 28.
Bowling for DCC Bishun took 4-64 and Paul Wintz 3-20.
DCC, in reply, made 351 runs for 8 wickets declared with Cohen Ishmond top scoring with 80.
Brian Sattaur, 70, Wintz, 67 and Andrew Lyght Jr., 43 were also among the runs.
In their second innings TSC were bowled out for 93 with Bishun taking 6- 39 as DCC won by an innings and 141 runs
Over at the Malteenoes Sports Club ground, GCC and the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) played to a draw.
GDF, batting first, made 240 all out with M. Watkins, 53, the principal scorer.
Bowling for GCC, Kevin Plants took 3-24.
In reply, GCC declared their innings closed at 200-2 with E. Sookdeo scoring an unbeaten century (111 n.o) and V. Singh, 53.
GDF in their second innings made 219 runs. GCC needing to score 260 to win outright were 113-5 at the close.
