An elderly man was shot and injured early on Monday morning when he tried to resist gunmen during a robbery.
According to a police press release, at 01:30 hrs minibus driver Shawn Sancho, 71, of Hadfield Street, Georgetown, was parking his vehicle when he was held at gunpoint by two men who demanded cash.
Sancho resisted and was shot to his right thigh by one of the men, who took $5,000 from him.
The perpetrators then escaped, the release said. Sancho has since been admitted to hospital, police added.
