Dear Editor,
I would like to take a few minutes to comment on a startling letter in yesterday’s Stabroek News `The dog should have been released to continue its life’ by Learie Barclay. Mr. Barclay responding to a letter by Syeada Manbodh about another poor, abused animal that she had picked up, stated that he felt she had “got it wrong” by having the animal humanely euthanized. Mr. Barclay felt she should have returned it to its dire life of abuse and starvation so that its body could continue to rot untreated until it died of “natural causes”. That would have been a truly inhumane thing for Syeada to have done and I am thankful that this poor animal was able to benefit from the only proper care it probably had in its lifetime.
Yours faithfully,
Susan Isaacs
