With the new forensic laboratory of the Guyana Police Force at an advanced stage of completion, the Home Ministry has announced the procurement of over $60M worth of forensic and photographic equipment and supplies for the facility.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the ministry said that the suppliers were selected using the national competitive bidding process.
The ministry named International Pharmaceutical Agency (Guy) Limited of Lot 22 B Camp Street, Georgetown as the supplier awarded the contract to provide two lots of items to the Forensic Laboratory: Lot 1 – small apparatus and glassware – 150 items, including beakers, test tubes, pipettes and storage containers for $39,616,509; and Lot 2 – consumables and chemicals – 248 items, including chemicals, reagents, acids and solutions for $10,174,812.
According to the statement, the items are needed to perform daily analysis, testing and sampling.
It added that the supplier Pressy Enterprise Ltd, of Cowan and Parade streets, Kingston, Georgetown, was also awarded a contract for $15,024,000 to supply photographic and forensic equipment for the Guyana Police Force.
