A three-year-old girl was struck down by a minibus on the Lima Public Road, on the Essequibo Coast on Tuesday afternoon.
According to reports, around 5:30pm, the child, Nikisha Shalom, of Essequibo, ran into the path of the vehicle. She was immediately rushed to the Suddie Hospital, from where she was transferred to Georgetown Public Hospital due to the severity of her condition.
She suffered injuries to her head and was up to press time receiving treatment in the hospital’s Accident and Emergency Unit.
The driver of the vehicle, meanwhile, is in police custody.
