Former National U19 all-rounder Ramnarine Chattergoon slammed an unbeaten 59 while former Berbice Under-19 off-spinner Monilall Shivdyal grabbed 5 for 10 from 4 overs to steer Fyrish to an 8-wicket win over Mibicuri when the 2013 Raffik and Sons Construction Services second-division 20 overs-a-side knockout cricket competition for teams in the Central and Lower Corentyne, Berbice continued last weekend.
The win earned the winners a bye to the semi-final of the competition.
Chattergoon, whose knock included four fours and five sixes, was supported by former Berbice Under-19 batsman Javed Mohamed who scored 36 not out. The two featured in an unbroken third wicket stand of 97 which took Fyrish home in nine overs.
Former Berbice Under-15 batsman Dwain Crandon slammed the highest score of the competition so far when he scored 91 which included 15 fours and three sixes to help Courtland All Star register 167 for 4 in their 20 overs against Chesney, who replied with 138 in 19.2 overs.
Three other batsmen – Naipaul Ayana of Yakusari Caribs, Mahendra Baldeo of Tain Block Four and Dominique Rikhi of Rose Hall Town Bakewell scored half centuries but could not save their respective teams from losing.
